Sources and licences

Every piece of information shows its source. From other websites we take only what is available in public feeds or on official pages, and we show it with credit and a link.

• We never copy a story's full text, description or photos.
• We never take content that sits behind a login or payment.
• We never use any government department's logo, emblem or visual identity.

• What we take: the headline, link and publication time from Amar Ujala's public Udham Singh Nagar RSS feed.
• What we do not take: the story's description, photos or full text.
• How it appears: the headline is shown with "अमर उजाला" (Amar Ujala) and the time. "पूरी खबर पढ़ें" (read the full story) opens on Amar Ujala's website.
• Feed: https://www.amarujala.com/rss/udham-singh-nagar.xml, checked about every 15 minutes.

• Current conditions and the forecast for the coming days come from Open-Meteo (https://open-meteo.com/) for Rudrapur (latitude 28.98, longitude 79.40), updated about every 30 minutes. Weather data by Open-Meteo.com.
• Licence: the data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
• Changes: we convert weather codes into Hindi names and icons and show the figures rounded.
• Forecasts can be wrong. For official weather warnings, follow the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

• National helplines (such as 112) are shown with the "राष्ट्रीय नंबर" (national number) label.
• Local numbers are published only when they appear on the official website of a government department or institution ("आधिकारिक वेबसाइट से", with a link to that page and the date checked) or when the editor has confirmed them by calling ("कॉल करके जांचा").
• For government services such as bill payment, complaints, certificates, recruitment and travel, we link only to official websites. Every link is opened and checked before it is added.

• The editor adds these from organisers, companies, official notices and newspaper reports, and shows the source each time.
• A festival date is treated as confirmed only when two reliable sources agree; otherwise it is marked "तिथि पुष्टि बाकी" (date to be confirmed).
• Directions to places open as a Google Maps search link.

• Readers send information through rudrapurcity.com/submit or WhatsApp. Nothing is published before the editor has checked it. Anything not confirmed is marked "अपुष्ट" (unverified).
• A private individual's phone number is shown only with their permission.

• The simple drawings on news, event, place and empty-list cards are our own. They do not come from any feed, newspaper or stock-photo website.
• For places we have no photograph of our own, we search only two sources — Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/) and Openverse (https://openverse.org/) — and accept only licences that allow free and open use: CC0, public domain, CC BY and CC BY-SA. We take nothing under any other licence.
• Every photograph currently on the site comes from Wikimedia Commons under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
• On the page where a photograph is shown in full, the photographer's name and the licence appear beneath it, and that link leads to the original file page where you can check the licence yourself. For the small thumbnails in a list, the same details are on that place's or event's own page.
• What we changed: the photographs have been resized, saved again as JPEG, stripped of the camera's hidden data, and one has been cropped. Indicating the changes made is what the CC BY-SA licence asks for.
• The full record of every photograph — photographer, licence, link to the original page, the changes made and where it is used — is kept in our records (docs/PHOTO-CREDITS.md). Ask at to be added soon and we will send you that list.
• What we never take: a publisher's photo printed with a story, stock photos, watermarked images, any picture in which a private individual can be identified or in which there is a child, and pictures of a different "Rudrapur" (in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha or Bangladesh). A picture is used only after its subject and its licence have been checked on its original page.

The site uses Noto Sans Devanagari for reading text and Anek Devanagari for headings and the board. Both are available free under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and are served from our own server, not from a font service. Figures use your own device's monospace font, so nothing is downloaded for them.

If you represent a news website or organisation and want us to change how your content appears (for example spell your name correctly, remove a headline, or stop showing your stories altogether), write to to be added soon. We will apply your request within 15 days, and sooner where we can.
