Rudrapur: Passenger claiming to be transport department employee on roadways bus found with 14 ID cards; case filed after card turns out fake

On September 26, a passenger on a Rudrapur depot roadways bus (UK-06 PA-1726) travelling from Khatima to Rudrapur showed an ID card and claimed to be a transport department employee when asked for a ticket. The conductor grew suspicious and informed depot officials. A roadways team stopped the bus near Bagwara on the Kichha highway and questioned the passenger, who kept changing his statements. A check with the ARTO office in Rudrapur found that the department had not issued the card and that no employee by that name exists in its records. A search turned up a total of 14 ID cards in the names of various Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh departments and the Sainik Board, along with a copy of an arms licence. Police have registered a case on a complaint by Madhusudan Mishra, assistant general manager of the transport corporation. According to police, the authenticity of all the ID cards and the licence is being checked, along with where they were made and where they were used.
