RudruBreaking news! The Roadways strike... is off! Buses are back on the roads!

Gaddha jiWhat? Yesterday was so peaceful... buses bouncing over me again?

RudruI promised you, Gaddha ji, I'd tell you today! Your peace... is over!

RudruNamaste Rudrapur! I'm Rudru, and this is Kya Chal Raha Hai. Today: the end of the Roadways strike, our own ground report from Transit Camp, thieves clean out several shops in one night, food test reports stuck, and at the end, good news about football and diyas!

RudruFirst, the Roadways. The employees' work boycott that began on Friday ended on Saturday evening. On the second day of the strike only a handful of buses left the Kashipur depot, but buses are now running normally again across the state, Rudrapur included.

RudruAt a meeting with Transport Minister Pradeep Batra it was agreed: the August salary will be paid before 4 November and the September salary in November. The per-kilometre rate for contract staff has also been raised. The union has put off its agitation until 1 December.

RudruAnd the one most upset by this news is... Gaddha ji!

Gaddha jiNever mind, Rudru... see you on 1 December!

RudruGaddha ji, passengers want it all sorted out before then... and you filled in too!

RudruNow our own ground report. This is the football ground in Transit Camp. This year's Durga Puja was held right here.

RudruIt has been about ten days since the puja ended, but our camera found paper, plastic and litter strewn all over the ground. The pandal has gone... but the litter hasn't.

RudruResidents say the committee did not get the ground cleaned after the puja. And small children play football and other games here every day.

RudruWe appeal to the puja committee: please get the ground cleaned, and the municipal corporation should lift the litter too, so the children can play without worry again. If the committee wants to give its side, it can write to us on Rudrapur City.

RudruAnd since we're talking football, the Uttarakhand Super Football League is on at Rudrapur's Manoj Sarkar Stadium. On Saturday Corbett FC beat Sher-e-Punjab 2-1, with both goals from Vishal Dubey. And Garhwal FC beat Techtro Swades 1-0 to reach the next round.

LaddooClean up the ground, and the next Vishal Dubey will come from Transit Camp itself!

RudruAbsolutely, Laddoo ji!

RudruNow the night's news. Car-borne thieves cut the locks of several liquor shops in Rudrapur, Kichha and Sitarganj late on Friday night. In Rudrapur about ₹1 lakh went from a shop near the SSP's residence, ₹1.35 lakh from two shops in Kichha, and about ₹30,000 from Sitarganj.

RudruThe incidents were caught on CCTV, and police are identifying the thieves from the footage.

RudruIt's night-time news, so joining us is... our Batti!

BattiRudru, next time thieves come, I'll shine so bright it'll dazzle their eyes!

RudruJust don't go out that night, Batti ji!

RudruNow the food tests. Of the food safety department's 458 samples in the district, reports on 133 still haven't come, though the rule is 14 days. Nine of 18 posts are vacant at the state food laboratory in Rudrapur.

RudruMeanwhile on Saturday, the inspection team found rotten apples and vegetables on sale at a mall in Rudrapur. The manager was given a notice, and six samples were sent for testing.

LaddooMy report came out in the last episode... 45 out of 45!

RudruYes, Laddoo ji, you're the topper! But before Diwali, remember: check the manufacturing and expiry dates on the packet, buy loose sweets only when fresh, and always take a bill.

RudruOn Saturday, Sardar Patel's birth anniversary, the unity pledge was taken across the district. There was a parade at the Rudrapur Police Lines, and 135 NCC cadets of SBS College ran a Run for Unity.

RudruAnd now, the good news! In Kashipur, women of self-help groups are making clay diyas and Lakshmi-Ganesh idols. They say people now prefer handmade goods to Chinese ones.

RudruAnd at Rudrapur's Gandhi Park, a Swadeshi Diwali mela runs from 4 November until Dhanteras. Street vendors will get more than 100 stalls rent-free.

LaddooDesi diyas, desi sweets... and Laddoo? The most desi of all!

RudruSo that was Saturday's Kya Chal Raha Hai. More news on the Rudrapur City app and website. See you tomorrow evening. Until then... keep your ground, your lane, clean!

Gaddha jiAnd who's going to fill me in, Rudru?

RudruFirst the ground, then you, Gaddha ji!

The characters and jokes are made up. Every fact comes from the stories above.
