A 2024-batch guard posted at the Central Jail in Sitarganj is accused of leaving his duty post with a loaded government rifle and threatening to kill in-charge jailer Pyare Lal at his residence. According to Dainik Jagran, the complaint says the guard phoned the jailer from inside the jail at about 9:40 am on Wednesday and allegedly made threats using abusive language, then went with the rifle to the jailer's residence outside the jail premises, where he banged hard on the door to try to get him out. It is alleged that the weapon was taken from him after jail officers and staff intervened, but he still tried to assault the jailer and made threats even in the presence of police. On the basis of the in-charge jailer's complaint to the senior jail superintendent, Sitarganj kotwali police registered a case on Wednesday under BNS sections 126(2), 351(3) and 352. Sub-inspector Jagat Singh Shahi has been given the investigation. (Source: Dainik Jagran)
