Kashipur depot: Only 6 buses now run on Delhi route instead of 16 after ban on BS-4 buses in Delhi; no service on Meerut, Rampur routes despite permits

Until August, the Kashipur roadways depot ran 16 buses on the Delhi route, but after an NGT order in September barred BS-4 buses from entering Delhi, only six BS-6 and CNG buses now run on the route. The BS-4 buses withdrawn from the Delhi route are being sent only to the Haridwar, Dehradun and Tanakpur routes, which already have enough buses. Buses are not being run on the Meerut and Rampur routes even though the depot holds permits for them. Passenger numbers from Delhi to the hills rise in the festive season, and without new buses the depot could lose revenue. Assistant general manager Indira Bhatt said the depot will soon get six new BS-6 buses, which will run on the Delhi route. (Source: Amar Ujala)
