Rudrapur: Preparations begin for Navratri and Durga Puja as mayor meets puja committees; police, PAC sought for security

The Rudrapur municipal corporation has begun preparations for Sharadiya Navratri and Durga Puja. On Thursday, mayor Vikas Sharma held a meeting with office-bearers of Durga Puja committees at the corporation hall and directed officials to inspect puja venues and complete arrangements on time. In the city, Durga Puja is mainly held at Transit Camp, Ravindra Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Indira Adarsh Bengali Colony and Rampura, and devotees' convenience and safety at these places will be the priority. The puja committees demanded adequate police and PAC deployment for security; the mayor said a letter has been sent to SSP Ajay Ganapathy. Meanwhile, in Khatima, the traders' association has appealed to grocers not to sell buckwheat (kuttu) flour loose during Navratri but only in sealed packets, and asked customers to check the manufacturing and expiry dates on packets.
