Tests for vitamin D, vitamin B12 and 'kala peeliya' (hepatitis C) have stopped at the government primary health centre in Narayan Nagar and the additional primary health centre in Harinagar Dhakia Kala in Kashipur block. According to Amar Ujala, these tests have been removed from all PHCs in the block; patients have to go to the LD Bhatt sub-district hospital about 10 km away, and pregnant women face the most trouble. The Narayan Nagar PHC gets about 100 patients a day from areas such as Bajpur Road, Jaitpur, Shivlalpur Dallu and Kachnal Gusain; it has facilities for normal delivery and vaccination but is short of an ANM and a woman doctor. The Harinagar Dhakia Kala PHC gets 35-40 patients a day from Mahadev Nagar, Kundeshwari, Bajewala, Kharmasa and Bhimnagar, and is short of one doctor, two nursing officers and a lab technician. Dr Naseem Ahmad, in-charge of the Narayan Nagar PHC, said the tests have been removed from the PHC and patients are being given the facility at LD Bhatt hospital. (Source: Amar Ujala)
