Satnam Singh murder in Nanakmatta: two including main accused arrested, pistol, cartridges and motorcycle recovered; five teams hunting four more accused

Update (October 20): On Monday police arrested two accused, including Satnam's cousin, described as the main accused, at the Matiha border. According to Hindustan and Dainik Jagran, a 12-bore country-made pistol, a spent cartridge, two live cartridges and a motorcycle were recovered from the main accused. Five police teams are raiding to arrest the four other named accused. SSP Ajay Ganpati visited the spot and spoke to the family; according to him, prima facie the case is one of enmity between the two sides, and the allegations made against the police are being investigated. Earlier (October 18): Satnam Singh (35) was shot dead on the night of October 17 in Siddha Navdiya, Nanakmatta. On his brother's complaint, a case was registered against six people, including his cousin and a woman. According to the family, there had been enmity since a dispute during the Ramlila on October 13; the attackers pelted stones and fired at the house, shot Satnam as he returned from the fields and ran a car over him. The family alleged that he could have been saved had the police acted earlier. (Source: Hindustan, Dainik Jagran, Amar Ujala, Dainik Bhaskar)
