Rudrapur leads Kumaon in internet use: 2.86 lakh users in Prarang estimate, more than double Haldwani's 1.16 lakh

Rudrapur is ahead of the other cities of Kumaon in estimated internet users. According to Hindustan, estimates up to September 2026 by Prarang, a private organisation in Delhi, put Rudrapur's internet users at 2.86 lakh, against 1.16 lakh in Haldwani and 1.04 lakh in Pithoragarh. Among districts, Udham Singh Nagar leads with an estimated 16.20 lakh users; Nainital has 9.35 lakh, Almora 6.10 lakh, Bageshwar 2.55 lakh and Champawat 2.54 lakh. District figures include rural areas and smaller towns besides the city. Prarang prepared the figures on the basis of TRAI reports and population ratios, so they are estimates, not a count. The report quotes BSNL as saying that demand for internet and digital services is higher in Rudrapur because it is an industrial area with more business and employment activity. (Source: Hindustan)
