15-day police checking drive in Udham Singh Nagar: action against vehicles without number plates, overspeeding, triple riding, drunk driving and tinted glass

After six of the 11 deaths in the district in 24 hours around Dussehra turned out to be road accident cases, SSP Ajay Ganpati has directed the SP Crime and SP Traffic to hold a meeting with all station house officers and run a 15-day special drive. According to ETV Bharat, strict action will be taken during the drive against vehicles without number plates, overspeeding, triple riding, drunk driving and vehicles with tinted glass. In view of winter and fog, emphasis has also been laid on getting reflective tape put on vehicles, fixing the hours when tractor-trolleys and straw and sugarcane trolleys can run, and enforcing the restrictions on heavy vehicles; the drive will be stepped up before Diwali. According to the SSP, 207 vehicles, including 137 motorcycles without number plates, were seized in a drive against vehicles without number plates a few days ago. (Source: ETV Bharat, Dainik Bhaskar)
