Cyber fraudsters are cheating people with fake credit SMS messages and fake UPI pay requests. According to Dainik Jagran, a message that looks like a bank alert first arrives on the phone saying Rs 1,000-2,000 has been credited to the account. Tapping the notification opens the fraudsters' pay request or collect request instead of bank details, and as soon as the UPI PIN is entered, the money goes from the account to the fraudsters. SSP STF Ajay Singh said you never need to enter a UPI PIN to receive money. Check your balance only in your own bank or UPI app, do not accept unknown pay or collect requests, and if someone says they sent money by mistake and asks for it back, check your bank statement first; do not send money back on the strength of a message alone. Do not trust suspicious links, SMS messages or calls. If you are cheated, call 1930 at once.
