Woman, 20, dies on way to Haldwani after childbirth in Shaktifarm: superintendent says gynaecologist posted there never joined, specialist at Sitarganj on leave

A 20-year-old woman died on the way to Haldwani after giving birth in Shaktifarm. According to Hindustan, she was admitted to the Shaktifarm community health centre for delivery on Sunday evening and gave birth to a son. Her condition then began to worsen and doctors referred her to a higher centre. She died on the way to Dr Sushila Tiwari Hospital in Haldwani at about 1 am. Superintendent Dr Kuldeep Yadav said a gynaecology and obstetrics specialist had been posted to Shaktifarm but did not join, and the specialist posted at the Sitarganj sub-district hospital is on leave, which is why the woman was referred. Shaktifarm outpost in-charge Jagdish Tiwari said the body was handed to the family after a post-mortem.
