SIDCUL-made electric products to take on Chinese lights this Diwali: 20-25 per cent cheaper with one-year warranty, say traders

According to Amar Ujala, more than 15 electric and electronics companies in SIDCUL have put LED string lights (jhalar), RGB lights, panel lights, decorative lamps and gift items on the market this Diwali, and demand is at its peak. With Diwali in mind, production has been running day and night for the past two months and the packing sections are working overtime. According to traders, lights made in SIDCUL are 20 to 25 per cent cheaper than Chinese lights and also come with a one-year warranty. The goods are going beyond Kumaon to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab, and wholesalers have placed advance orders. According to Ajay Tiwari, former president of the SIDCUL Association, the goods made here are both cheap and durable, which is why demand is 30 per cent higher. Association president Gajendra Singh called it the effect of the Prime Minister's 'vocal for local' call and said traders are coming to SIDCUL themselves to pick up goods, big orders have come from other states, and this will also boost local employment.
