Udham Singh Nagar Bar Association election in first week of December: annual general meeting on November 18; lawyers end seven-day sit-in after assurance

The lawyers' sit-in in Rudrapur demanding elections to the Udham Singh Nagar Bar Association ended on Thursday after seven days. According to Amar Ujala, Bar Council of Uttarakhand vice-president Sushil Mehta, Udham Singh Nagar Bar Association president Sanjeev Phogat, vice-president Inderjeet Singh Bitta, senior executive member Shahid Hussain and other office-bearers reached the protest site on the seventh day. They assured the lawyers that the annual general meeting will be held on November 18 and the Bar Association election will then be held in the first week of December. After the assurance, the protesting lawyers expressed satisfaction and called off the sit-in. Hindustan has also reported the general meeting on November 18 and the election in December.
