RudruBreaking news! The results for Rudrapur's sweets are out...
Laddoo45 out of 45! I passed!
RudruCongratulations, Laddoo ji! But the spices... failed!
RudruNamaste Rudrapur! I'm Rudru, and this is Kya Chal Raha Hai. Today: adulterated spices, the Roadways strike, a long queue at the hospital, how to stay safe from cyber fraudsters, and at the end, some really good news from Jaspur!
RudruAhead of Diwali, the food safety department's mobile food lab tested samples in Rudrapur. All 45 sweet samples passed. But of 39 samples of turmeric, chilli and coriander powder from the vegetable market, 14 were substandard.
RudruThey had more colour and adulteration than the permitted limit. Most of these spices were being sold loose from sacks, with no brand and no expiry date.
RudruThe samples have been sent to the lab, and action will follow when the reports come. The department's advice: don't buy loose, unbranded spices, and always take a bill.
LaddooAnd my expiry date is even written on me!
RudruYou're the topper, Laddoo ji!
RudruNow, the roads. Roadways employees have been on an indefinite strike since Friday over a six-point charter of demands. Buses came to a complete halt in Kashipur, and services were hit in Rudrapur too.
RudruThe demands include equal pay for equal work, regularisation, and salary on time every month. Across the state, about 60 per cent of buses are off the road.
RudruJoining us with the state of the road... Gaddha ji!
Gaddha jiRudru, not a single bus bounced over me today! What a relief.
RudruGaddha ji, your relief is the passengers' trouble.
RudruThe transport minister has called a meeting of the unions on Saturday. Before you travel, do check with the depot about buses.
RudruNow the district hospital. Patients here have to stand in line for hours just to get a bill made before an X-ray. One patient was in line from 10 in the morning and still had no turn by 12. And more than 1,500 patients come to the OPD every day.
RudruThe reason? Too few staff at the counter, a slow system, and the server often down.
RudruJoining us with the state of the server, our very own Batti!
BattiRudru, let me make it clear right away! This time it wasn't me who went off... it was the server!
RudruAgreed, Batti ji, today you are innocent. The medical college principal says arrangements will be improved soon.
RudruThen Kashipur. The Uttarakhand High Court has ordered the police to return at once the firecrackers seized from two traders.
RudruThe police had seized the firecrackers on 16 October last year, while their permit to sell was for 18 to 20 October. The High Court said firecrackers are seasonal goods, and their value falls once the festival is over.
RudruThe court also said the safety rules for storing and selling firecrackers must be followed strictly.
RudruNow two quick dates. In the census, from 16 to 30 November you can fill in your family's details yourself on the portal, and the door-to-door count will run from 1 December to 4 January.
RudruAnd the Bar Association's general meeting is on 18 November, with elections in the first week of December. After this assurance, the advocates ended their seven-day sit-in.
RudruNow, one thing... seriously. Cyber fraud.
RudruA man in Rudrapur got a phone call and was sent a link in the name of raising his credit card reward points. As soon as he opened the link, ₹1 lakh was taken from the card.
RudruIn Pantnagar, ₹3.94 lakh was taken by UPI from a professor's account, and not even a message came from the bank. Meanwhile in Kashipur, the STF caught an illegal international call centre: more than 45 thousand calls in 21 days, robocalls too. One accused has been arrested.
RudruRemember: don't open unknown links sent to your phone, and don't give any of your details on unknown robocalls. And if you are cheated, call 1930 at once, or complain at cybercrime.gov.in.
RudruAnd now, that good news! Under the captaincy of a student from Jaspur, North Zone-1 has won the CBSE Under-14 national cricket title!
RudruThe final was played in Madurai. The team bowled South Zone-1 out for just 33 runs, and won the match in 7 overs!
LaddooWell done, kids! Laddoos for the whole team, from me!
RudruThat was Friday's Kya Chal Raha Hai. More news on the Rudrapur City app and website. See you tomorrow evening. Until then... stay away from loose spices!
Gaddha jiHey! And what about the buses? My relief?
RudruWe'll tell you tomorrow, Gaddha ji!
The characters and jokes are made up. Every fact comes from the stories above.
