Ahead of Diwali, workers of two companies in Rudrapur have raised the issue of bonus. According to Dainik Bhaskar, workers of the Perfetti company in SIDCUL allege that they have not received a bonus for eight years and that they are threatened with dismissal or transfer when they ask for it. They and local workers' organisations have demanded immediate intervention by the labour department and the district administration, and said they will step up their agitation if payment is not made. Meanwhile, according to Hindustan, workers of the Princeton Facility company protested at the labour department on Thursday and submitted a memorandum. They say the company has not yet paid the bonus and that workers are being punished for a dispute between the company and a contractor. Labour department officials have assured them that they will talk to the company's management and find a solution soon. Neither report carries the companies' side.
