Viral infections rise among children in Rudrapur as weather turns: 30-40% more children in hospitals with fever, cough and pneumonia; doctors advise full clothes in mornings and evenings

Illnesses among children have risen in Rudrapur as the weather changes. According to Amar Ujala, with cold mornings and evenings and strong sun during the day, children are quickly catching viral infections, and the number of children in hospitals with fever, cough and cold, sore throat and pneumonia has risen by 30 to 40 per cent. Paediatricians say viral fever, seasonal flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, allergies, diarrhoea and skin diseases are the biggest risks in this season. Doctors advise protecting children from sudden cold and heat, keeping them away from cold water, food left in the open and dust, dressing them fully in the mornings and evenings, and keeping the home clean. Head of paediatrics Prof Dr Ritu Rakholia said parents should see a nearby paediatrician if the trouble is more serious.
