Family members and neighbours of the young man who died after a stone attack near the Rudrapur roadways bus station gheraoed the kotwali on Monday, led by former MLA Rajkumar Thukral. According to Amar Ujala, the family alleges that five people, not three, were involved. The protesters say he received a call on his mobile on the night of October 30 and went towards the roadways area by bike with a friend, where five people in a white car hit the bike, started a dispute and beat him. According to Hindustan, the family also says the weapon and vehicle used have not been recovered. Thukral warned that a dharna will be held at the kotwali if arrests are not made in 24 hours. Police officers said raids are on to find the absconding accused and arrests will be made soon; the protest ended after this assurance. Police have already arrested three accused, had them recreate the scene on Sunday and collected evidence including a bloodstained stone.
