DM to decide within four months on permanent construction at Transit Camp public ground: High Court disposes of PIL, tells petitioner to make representation to DM

The Uttarakhand High Court has disposed of a public interest litigation against proposed permanent construction on the Subhash Chandra Bose public ground at Transit Camp, Rudrapur. According to ETV Bharat and Hindustan, a bench of Acting Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Subhash Upadhyay on Monday asked the petitioner to make a representation to the District Magistrate and directed the DM to decide on it according to law within four months. The petitioner, a resident of Ward 2, said the government plans permanent construction on the ground. According to the petitioner, economically weaker families hold weddings, religious and political programmes and sports there and people walk there daily; construction would affect all this and harm the environment. The PIL asked that the ground be kept open. Residents had earlier made a representation to the government, on which no decision was taken. Neither report says what is proposed to be built on the ground.
