Rudrapur: Cyber fraudsters threaten to cut gas pipeline connection, siphon off ₹2.31 lakh
रुद्रपुर: गैस पाइपलाइन कनेक्शन कटने का डर दिखाकर साइबर ठगों ने उड़ाए 2.31 लाख रुपये

Cyber fraudsters cheated a resident of the Gangapur Road area of ₹2.31 lakh by threatening to cut off his gas pipeline connection. According to his police complaint, on September 29 he received a WhatsApp message warning that his Adani gas pipeline connection would be cut for an unpaid bill, with the number of a so-called billing officer. When he called that number in the evening, the fraudster sent him a link that showed a bill of ₹13 and asked him to pay it by card. He entered details of his bank account, his credit card and his wife's bank account on the link. When the payment did not go through, the fraudster hung up, saying they would talk the next day. From around 9 pm, ₹17,000 was taken from his account, ₹2 lakh from the credit card and ₹14,000 from his wife's account. Transit Camp police have registered a case against unknown persons and begun an investigation. Be careful: do not enter bank or card details on links sent from unknown numbers; pay bills only through the company's official app or website. If you are cheated, call the cyber helpline 1930 at once or complain at cybercrime.gov.in. (Source: Hindustan)
