Boxer Kapil Pokhariya gets a rousing welcome on returning to Khatima with Asian Games bronze; MLA Bhuvan Kapri honours him at home

International boxer Kapil Pokhariya of Chakarpur in the Khatima assembly constituency has won bronze for India in the 90 kg category of the boxing competition at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. Various organisations and his family gave him a rousing welcome when he returned to Khatima with the medal. His father, Narendra Pokhariya, is an ex-serviceman. Kapil took up boxing in his school days. He has won gold at the National Games and reached the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games; after joining the Kumaon Regiment he also won several medals at Army games. Khatima MLA Bhuvan Kapri visited his home, honoured him with a shawl, presented him a sapling and said Kapil's success is an inspiration for young people. (Source: Dainik Bhaskar)
