Rudrapur: Man convicted of kidnapping and raping teenage girl gets 20 years' rigorous imprisonment, POCSO court verdict

The special POCSO court in Rudrapur (Judge Sangeeta Arya) has sentenced a man convicted of kidnapping and raping a teenage girl in a 2019 case to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. According to the prosecution, Guddu, a resident of Bengali Colony in Kichha, lured the girl away in April 2019, took her to Surat in Gujarat via Delhi, and raped her there. A case was registered on the family's complaint, and police arrested the accused in Surat in September 2019. The prosecution presented the DNA test report as key scientific evidence. The court also awarded 10 years' rigorous imprisonment under IPC Section 366 and seven years under Section 363; all sentences will run concurrently. (Source: Amar Ujala)
