Rudrapur: Lord Ram's wedding procession reaches Nagar Nigam for the first time, Mayor Vikas Sharma plays King Janak and performs kanyadaan

Lord Ram's wedding procession, taken out on Thursday as part of the Ramlila staged in Rampura by the Shri Shri Shiv Mandir Chaurasi Ghanta Committee, was welcomed on the Nagar Nigam campus for the first time. The campus was decorated as Janakpuri. Ram, Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughan arrived on horses and King Dashrath on a chariot-like vehicle; amid music, showers of flowers and fireworks, officials, staff and councillors led by Mayor Vikas Sharma welcomed the procession. The rituals of the Ram-Sita wedding were held in a decorated pandal, where the mayor played King Janak and performed the kanyadaan. The corporation arranged food for the procession and devotees. The mayor called it a matter of pride for the city and said that after the Trishul Chowk, work will be done towards a Damru Chowk and that the process of building a Shiv Corridor has begun.
